Feast Day January 27

Angela was a third order Franciscan, a single woman. When she was a young girl, she had a vision of saints rejoicing and singing in heaven with her sister, who died at a young age. In her youth, Angela went on various pilgrimages. Later in life, she founded the Ursuline order of sisters to care for the outcasted, poor, and unmarried women of society. She educated these women, to give them freedom.

Small Snippet

Saint Angela, intercede to the Holy Ghost that I may seek out the quiet crevices every day. Noticing beauty in nature, that I may pause to be more attuned to what’s right in front of me.

Pocket Prayer

Artistic Process

These images inspired and helped me accurately depict Angela.

References

These symbolize the pilgrimage journeys Angela loved to go on. When hiking in the mountains a common practice is to add stones to a pile to communicate to other hikers you are on the correct trail.

Rocks and Shells

Symbolizes favor, and this favor that God had on her through her traumatic childhood. That despite her sorrows, Angela only wanted to give.
