Fr. Charbel was a Maronite monk known for his unique ability to unite Muslims and Christians. He also kept his head down—literally. People almost never had a chance to see his face unless at mass, where he lifted his eyes upward to the tabernacle. He’s known as the miracle monk because after he died his body didn’t decompose despite being buried for forty days without a coffin.
