Feast Day September 26

Cosmas and Damian were twin physicians from Arabia during the Roman persecution of Christians. They were “The Holy Moneyless Ones,” never charging for the healings they performed. Legend tells after they were martyred, people slept in churches praying for help, and awakened miraculously healed.

Small Snippet

Saints Cosmas & Damian, intercede to the Holy Ghost that I may heal from any injuries of mind and body, that I may have a speedy recovery.

Artistic Process

I almost always start with a pencil sketch. I researched, meditated on, and pondered the twins’ lives and their impact on the early Christian community.

Sketch

It was extremely important to me that the twins were depicted as Arab men. Of all accounts I read of them, that was the one concurrent fact. They weren’t Italian, Anglo Saxon, but were Arab men.
