St. Elisabeth of Hungary
St. Elisabeth of Hungary
Generous Queen 1207–1231
Patronage Hospitals, Nurses, The Falsely Accused & Bakers
Feast Day November 17
As Queen, Elisabeth had an affinity for the poor, going out even in secret to care for her people. On one such occasion, she was discovered by her husband the king. When he asked what she had under her cloak, the king saw a vision of red and white roses fall to the ground. The vision convinced him that God blessed her charitable works, and he supported her.
