Small Snippet

Gemma loved Jesus with all her heart. When she was 16 years old, she suffered from spinal meningitis. She was cured through the intercession of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Even with the cure, Gemma experienced Gemma had many mystical moments in her life, including seeing her guardian angel, visions of Jesus and Mary, and a stigmata experience in her hands.

Pocket Prayer

Saint Gemma, intercede to the Holy Ghost that even when I experience intense pain and suffering, that I can still remember to love and be loved.

Artistic Process

La Seraphique Gemma Galgani

Photo taken by Jules-Ernest Livernois in 1916. Because Gemma died in 1903, I suspect this was a photo of a photo or a photo of a painting of her.

Rose of Sharon

I usually associate this flower with a Pure Heart. Gemma lived with such a pure heart of love that I see now other flower more fitting to display her beautiful heart.

Fire Imagery

Gemma had an intense spiritual connection with the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The intensity of the love is often depicted through fire imagery.

Yellow Orchids

These flowers represent beauty and elegance. Gemma was a delicate soul, and I think these flowers depict her fragility and trust as she had her mystical visions.
