Patronage Teachers, Education & the Wealthy Social Class
Feast Day April 7
Fr. Jean-Baptiste started as a comfortable wealthy priest from Paris. Shortly after being ordained, In 1679, a layman named Adrien Nyel asked him to help open a school in Reims. His role in the first school changed his outlook to recognize that education was a gift for anyone, regardless of their social class. He founded the “Brothers of Christian Schools,” offering free education.
