St. Kateri Tekakwitha

Patronage Environmentalists, Nature Preserves & Native Americans
Feast Day April 17
Kateri is the first Native American saint. She had a difficult life from an early age; being orphaned and suffering from smallpox, leaving her scarred with irreparable vision damage to her eyes. Kateri learned of Christianity from a Jesuit missionary who stayed with her uncle, and chose to get baptized. She was teased and insulted for her prayer life and eventually left to join a Christian tribe.
Small Snippet
St. Kateri, intercede through the Holy Ghost that I don't let harsh words get under my skin, especially when they come from the people I care about most.

Inspiration References
I took these photos out on Long Island, NY.
Japanese Honeysuckle
I took these near my home in New York. The Japanese Maple Tree is super common in New York and ties to Kateri's origins to the land before it was America.
