St. Kim Taegõn Andrew

Courageous Leader 1821–1846

Patronage Korea, Leadership, Adventure, & Korean Priests

Feast Day September 20

Kim Taegōn Andrew was sent to Macao, China to study, and there became the first native-born Korean priest. Upon reentering Korea, he was quickly arrested. He was martyred after three months in prison. During that time, he wrote encouraging letters to Korean laypeople, most of whom suffered immense torture for their faith.
