Feast Day August 10
Lawrence was one of the seven Deacons of Rome. Tradition tells that when asked to present the church's riches before the Roman Praetorium, Lawrence presented the poor, crippled, and outcasts of society as the Church's “riches.” He was roasted alive as punishment. As he burned, he is said to have said: “This side's done, flip me over.”
