As Nicholas arrived from out of town, crowds shouted for his help. Upon learning that three innocent men were about to be executed, he ran through the city. As the executioner raised his sword, Nicholas snatched it out of his hands and freed the men. Bishop Nicholas charged the magistrate of the town for treachery.

Poinsettia flowers

commonly known as the red flower, it also comes in pink and yellow

Original Painting

St. Nicholas by Jaroslav Čermák who lived from 1831 - 1878

I took these photos at my church during the Christmas season. The poinsettia flowers allude to Christmas and fit nicely for Father Christmas himself, St. Nick.
