St. Kateri Tekakwitha

Lily of the Mohawks 1656 – 1680

Patronage Environmentalists, Nature Preserves & Native Americans

Feast Day July 14

Fun Fact

Kateri was named Little Sunshine as a child. At 4 years old, she suffered from smallpox, which left Kateri scarred with irreparable vision damage to her eyes. Her condition led to clumsiness. The Mohawk people renamed her Tekakwitha, which means “one who bumps into things.”

Prayer

Saint Catherine, intercede to the Holy Ghost that I don’t let harsh words get under my skin, especially when they come from the people I care about the most.

Amen.
