St. Lawrence of Rome

Holy Comedian d. 258

Patronage Comedians, Students & Barbecues

Feast Day August 10

Fun Fact

When asked to present the church’s riches before the Roman Praetorium, Lawrence presented the poor, crippled, and outcasts of society as the Church’s “riches.”

He was roasted alive as punishment. As he burned, he said “This side’s done, flip me over.”

Prayer

Saint Lawrence, intercede to the Holy Ghost that I may not lose my sense of joy and humor even during the most despairing and bleak moments in my life.

Amen.
