St. Philomena of Mugnano

Daughter of Light c. 3rd cent.

Patronage Children and Babies

Feast Day August 10

Fun Fact

In 1802, a martyr's tomb was found in the catacombs of Priscilla in Rome, with her name inscribed on it. No historical evidence exists, so we can only rely on visions of the faithful. Luisa de Jesus recounted in her vision that Philomena miraculously survived various forms of torture leading to her martyrdom. Her feast was removed from the Roman calendar in 1961.

Prayer

Saint Philomena, intercede to the Holy Ghost that any children entrusted to my care may be safe.

Amen.
