St. Angela Merici

Champion of Women 1470 – 1540

Patronage Young Women & Education

Feast Day January 27

Fun Fact

Angela was a third order Franciscan, and lived her life as a single virgin. When she was a young girl, she had a vision of saints rejoicing and singing in heaven with her dead sister.

Angela founded the Ursuline order of sisters for the outcasted, poor, and unmarried women of society. She sought to educate these women, giving them a worthwhile freedom.

Prayer

Saint Angela, intercede to the Holy Ghost that I uplift, advocate for and respect women, especially those who feel unloved and forgotten.

Amen.
